Baseball Sweeps Lyndon as Bardwell Walks Off Game Two

Waterville, ME – Baseball swept the Vermont State University Lyndon Hornets at home in a doubleheader contest on Monday, April 21st, 2025. The final scores were 6-4 and 6-5. Bryce Bardwell walked off game two with a sacrifice fly.

How it Happened:
 
Game One
  • The Lynx opened up the first inning with a single run, but the Terriers would eventually come back and respond in the third inning.
  • DJ Cagnina would hit a sacrifice fly that scored Tony Meza, making it 1-1.
  • Patrick Temby then hit a double to deep left field that scored Samuel Keblinsky and Cam Haynes to make it 3-1.
  • In the fifth inning Temby struck again, hitting a single that scored Keblinsky, making it 4-1.
  • The Hornets would make things interesting in the seventh and eighth innings, eventually tying the game at 4-4.
  • In the eighth inning Meza hit a sacrifice fly that scored Matt Seymour, making it 5-4.
  • A fielding error from the Hornets allowed Hayden Dippner to score on the next play to make the final score 6-4.
  • Pitchers Andrew Pruell and Ankit Shah both played well, combining to strike out 10 total batters.

Inside the Stats:  
Game Two
  • The Hornets would get off to a hot start in game two, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning.
  • Bryce Bardwell hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning that scored Haynes, but the Terriers still found themselves down 1-3 headed into the fourth.
  • Bardwell and Jason Bartlett both hit doubles that scored a combined three runs to take a 4-3 lead.
  • This would last until the fifth inning, where the Hornets gained a run, then another in the top of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead.
  • The Terriers were able to battle back, with Morton hitting a sacrifice fly that scored Javier Diaz to tie things at 5-5.
  • in the bottom of the seventh inning in a bases loaded situation Bardwell hit another sacrifice fly that scored Haynes, earning a walk-off win, 6-5.
