Baseball Splits With Lynx in High Scoring Doubleheader

Waterville, ME – There was no shortage of offense when Baseball took on the Lesley University Lynx at home on Friday, April 18th, 2025. The final scores were 13-20 and 10-5.

How it Happened:
 
Game One
  • The Lynx opened up the first inning with three runs, but the Terriers hit right back with a double from Cam Haynes that scored Elijah Morton to make it 1-3.
  • The Lynx continued to keep pace, scoring two runs in each of the next three innings to eventually 6-9 headed into the fifth inning.
  • The Terriers rallied to take the lead after several walks and singles from Haynes and DJ Cagnina scored four runs to make it 10-9.
  • Despite the lead the Lynx responded with seven runs in the sixth inning to make it 10-16.
  • The Terriers were able to score three runs in the seventh inning thanks to some good baserunning and a single from Samuel Keblinsky, making it 13-17.
  • Neither team scored in the eighth inning, while the Lynx added three more in the ninth to hand the Terriers a 13-20 loss.

Inside the Stats:  
Game Two
  • The Terriers jumped out to an important lead in the first inning thanks to a home run from Haynes and a double from Patrick Temby to make it 3-0.
  • After pitcher Jarrad Willette was able to shut down the Lynx in the bottom of the inning, the Terriers continued their pace, scoring two more runs.
  • Singles from Haynes and Cagnina scored two runs, making it 5-0 headed into the third.
  • Despite a run from the Lynx in the next inning, Morton hit a triple and Haynes continued to show out to eventually make it 10-3 headed into the fifth inning.
  • Neither team scored in the fifth inning, and Ankit Shah was tasked with closing the game out in the sixth.
  • Shah did just that, and the game was called headed into the bottom of the sixth inning due to darkness.

What's Next:
  • Baseball will be back in action on Monday, April 21st, when they take on the Vermont Stats University Lyndon Hornets at home in a doubleheader. Game times are set for 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM.
