Softball Drops 9-0 to Simmons Sharks, While Oberholzer Hits 100 Career Strikeouts

Brighton, MA – Thomas College Softball traveled to Brighton, Massachusetts, on Friday, March 28, to face Simmons University. Originally scheduled for Sunday, March 30, the game was moved up due to incoming weather. The Terriers fell to the Sharks 9-0 in a five-inning game. Despite the loss, junior pitcher Megan Oberholzer achieved a milestone, recording her 100th career strikeout on her final pitch of the game.

  • In the first inning, after the Sharks retired three Thomas batters, Simmons quickly responded with four runs, capitalizing on three hits and a Thomas error.
  • The Sharks extended their lead in the second inning with four additional runs, powered by four hits, including a double and a triple, making it 8-0.
  • Simmons added one more insurance run in the fourth inning, increasing the score to 9-0.
  • The Terriers struggled offensively and were unable to generate hits or bring more than three batters to the plate every inning besides the last.
  • In the fifth inning, Thomas managed to get two base runners after back-to-back Simmons errors but failed to bring them home.
