Winter Haven, FL – The Thomas College Softball team faced Albertus Magnus College in Game 1, falling 4-2 to the Falcons. In Game 2, they battled Earlham College in a tightly contested match up, ultimately losing 3-2 in the final inning.
Game 1: Terriers 2, Albertus Magnus College 4
How It Happened:
- Albertus Magnus struck first with two runs in the second inning on back-to-back hits to the outfield.
- The Terriers responded in the bottom of the inning. Maeve Hickok singled to center, followed by a single from Makayla Panich and a Falcons error that loaded the bases. Leah Knight drove in Hickok with a sacrifice fly to right field, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
- Both teams had scoring opportunities in the following innings but failed to capitalize.
- The Falcons extended their lead in the fifth inning, scoring two more runs to make it 4-1.
- In the bottom of the seventh, the Terriers gained momentum with a triple from Knight, who later scored on an error by Albertus Magnus after a ball put in play by Abby Farone. However, the rally ended there, resulting in a 4-2 loss for Thomas.
Inside the Stats:
- Sophomore Brooklyn Federico pitched a complete game, recording six strikeouts while allowing just three walks.
- Maeve Hickok had a strong performance at the plate, going 2-for-3.
Game 2: Terriers 2, Earlham College 3
How It Happened:
- The Terriers started strong as the away team, putting two runs on the board in the first inning. Maddy Morris led off with a single to right field, followed by Maeve Hickok reaching on a fielder's choice. Jennie Whitten came through with a double up the middle, scoring both Morris and Hickok.
- The Quakers tied the game in the bottom of the second with a single to right field that brought in two runners.
- Both teams struggled offensively after the second inning, unable to get timely hits or advancing runners past second base.
- The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh. A Thomas error allowed an Earlham runner to reach base, who was bunted to second and then scored on a strong single to left field, giving the Quakers a 3-2 victory.

- Megan Oberholzer pitched a complete game for the Terriers, finishing with three strikeouts and allowing just one walk.
