Baseball Falls in Heartbreaker Against Fitchburg State

Davenport, FL – Baseball fell to Fitchburg State University in heartbreaking fashion by a score of 14-15 on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers started the game well, taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning thanks to Elijah Morton, Tony Meza, and a big double from Cam Haynes.
  • The Falcons responded right back with five runs in the second to make it 3-5.
  • Both Patrick Temby and Javier Diaz were hit by pitches in the third inning, scoring DJ Cagnina and Meza to make it 5-5.
  • Once again, the Falcons responded back, this time with seven runs to make it 5-12.
  • Despite the large setback, the Terriers continued to battle, but by the end of the sixth inning they were down 6-14.
  • In the seventh inning the Terriers earned six hits, including five singles from various players, to make it 13-14. 
  • With their belief back, the Terriers headed into the ninth inning only down by one run.
  • With a Haynes walk, a Gavin Clark single, and a sacrifice fly from Jason Bartlett, against the odds, the Terriers tied the game up at 14 a piece.
  • Despite the comeback, the Falcons closed out the bottom of the 9th inning with a double to score the winning run, making the final score 15-14.

  • Tony Meza – 1 Hit, 3 RBIs
  • Nine different Terriers brought home an RBI
  • Six different Terriers appeared on the mound, throwing a combined six strikeouts.

  • Baseball will look to bounce back when they take on the College of St. Scholastica in Davenport, Florida, on Thursday, March 13th, 2025. First pitch is set for 9:00 AM.
