Winter Haven, FL – The Thomas College softball team experienced both highs and lows on Day 4 of their Florida competition. They opened the day with a tough 13-0 loss in five innings to the University of Northwestern (MN) but bounced back with a commanding 10-2 victory over Marywood University in six innings.
Game 1: University of Northwestern (MN) 13, Terriers 0
How It Happened:
- The Eagles struck early, recording three hits that resulted in two runs in the first inning and another run in the second.
- Struggles at the plate and defensive errors hurt the Terriers as Northwestern exploded for 10 runs in the third inning, fueled by seven hits and two Thomas errors.
- Layla Pickering and Carlie Jarvais were the only Terriers to record hits and reach base.

Game 2: Terriers 10, Marywood University 2
How It Happened:
- Marywood scored first with a run in the top of the second inning.
- The Terriers responded in the bottom of the third. Layla Pickering started the inning with a single to center field, followed by Abby Farone beating out an infield hit to shortstop.
- Later in the inning, Carlie Jarvais loaded the bases, setting the stage for Senior Kayla Duhaime, who singled down the left field line to score two runs.
- Megan Oberholzer followed with a single up the middle to bring in Jarvais, and Mackenzie Toner capped the inning with an RBI, making it 4-1 in favor of Thomas.
- Marywood added their final run in the fifth inning, taking advantage of a Thomas error.
- The Terriers made up for the unearned run by scoring three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
- To seal the victory and end the game early, Thomas added another three runs in the sixth inning, closing out a 10-2 win.
Inside the Stats:
- Megan Oberholzer: Earned her first win of the season, pitching a complete game with six innings, five strikeouts, and only two walks. She also contributed offensively, going 2-for-3.
- Carlie Jarvais and Mackenzie Toner: Both went 3-for-4 at the plate.
