Baseball Rolls to Doubleheader Sweep Against SUNY Poly

Winter Haven, FL – Baseball opened their pre-season Florida trip with two emphatic wins over SUNY Poly in a doubleheader on Sunday, March 9th, 2025. The final scores were 11-0 and 16-9.

How it Happened:
 
Game 1
  • The Terriers got on the scoreboard first with DJ Cagnina bringing home Elijah Morton in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead.
  • A sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third from Cagnina once again scored Morton to make it 2-0.
  • In the bottom of the fourth inning the Terriers came alive, with Jason Bartlett doubling to left field, followed by Matt Seymour tripling to the same spot to make it 5-0.
  • A single from Hayden Dippner later in the inning saw the Terriers take a 6-0 lead.
  • The Terriers scored one more run in the bottom of the fifth inning but came alive again in the bottom of the sixth.
  • A grand slam from Samuel Keblinsky summed up the day, scoring four runs to make it 11-0.
  • The final scored held at 11-0 thanks to strong offensive output and superb pitching from Andrew Pruell and Jordan Craft.
  • Pruell broke the program record for strikeouts in the game and currently is at 117.

Inside the Stats:
Game 2
  • While neither team could score in the first inning, the second saw a combined nine runs scored.
  • Keblinsky scored the first run after a fly ball and was followed by a huge double from Morton to make it 2-0.
  • Seymour scored shortly after thanks to some good base running to make it 3-0.
  • A single from Cagnina scored Dippner, making it 4-0.
  • The Wildcats responded with four runs of their own, but the Terriers continued to roll.
  • The Terriers scored three more runs in the third inning thanks to Bartlett, Seymour, and Morton to make it 7-4.
  • In the fourth inning hits from Bartlett and Dippner saw the Terriers take a 12-4 lead.
  • Another home run from Keblinsky helped the Terriers score three more runs to make it 15-4.
  • The Wildcats were able to score four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough as the Terriers cruised to a 15-9 win.

  • Baseball will look to continue their success when they take on the University of Minnesota Morris on Monday, March 10th, 2025, in Davenport, Florida. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
