Women’s Basketball Drops NAC Conference Matchup to Beavers

Farmington, Maine – Terriers Women's Basketball would take on the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers in a North Atlantic Conference match but would be defeated by a final score of 54-75 on Saturday, February 8th. Sky Kubwalo would lead the Terriers in scoring, finishing with 19 points and 9 rebounds despite the loss. 

Records: 

Thomas: Overall (6-16), NAC (6-6) 

University of Maine-Farmington: Overall (11-11), NAC (7-5) 

How it Happened: 

  • Both teams would go back and forth to start the game, but the Beavers would jump out to an early lead in the first. 

  • But a late offensive run from the Beavers in the first quarter would put the Terriers down 11-22 heading into the second quarter. 

  • Roberts and Kubwalo would look to generate some early momentum in the second quarter by continuing to attack the Beavers defense. 

  • But the Beavers would continue to knock down shots midway through the second quarter to keep control of the game. 

  • Kubawlo, Roberts and Bri Benecke would combine for ten points in the final minutes of the second quarter, but the Terriers would find themselves down 26-38 at halftime. 

  • The Beavers would come out of the half hot, opening the second half with a quick scoring run. 

  • Kubwalo and Sarah Davis would look to cut into the Beavers lead midway through the third quarter. 

  • But a strong offensive half from the Beavers would put the Terriers down 35-51 heading into the fourth quarter. 

  • The Terriers would continue to try and cut into the Beavers lead in the fourth quarter, but the Beavers would ultimately take control of the rest of the game and would hand the Terriers a 54-75 North Atlantic Conference loss on the road. 

What's Next: The Terriers will look to bounce back on Friday, February 14th, hosting the University of Maine Fort Kent Bengals in a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.
