Farmington, ME – Men's Basketball came up short in their second meeting against the University of Maine Farmington Beavers by a score of 73-85 on Saturday, February 8
th, 2025.
Thomas College: Overall (7-14), NAC (4-8)
University of Maine Farmington: Overall (12-11), NAC (9-3)
How it Happened:
- Both teams came out of the gate well, with Parker Desjardins connecting on two three-point shots in the first few minutes.
- Five minutes into the first half the Beavers went on a 10-3 scoring run to make it 11-19.
- The Terriers would continue to battle back in the next five minutes, coming within four points after a Camryn Yorke pass led to a Jackson Ruelke layup.
- The Beavers once again went on a run, this time scoring 15 straight points to put them up 39-23 with three minutes remaining in the first half.
- The Terriers would respond with a positive final few minutes, outscoring the Beavers 13-4 thanks to Yorke, Ruelke, and Desjardins, but found themselves down 33-43 at halftime.
- The second half opened up similarly to the first, with both teams trading points.
- Seven minutes into the second half Ruelke made a three-point shot to cut the Beaver lead to just 10, 49-59.
- With the Terriers within striking distance, they went on a 5-0 scoring run to make it a seven-point game.
- The Beavers continued to match the majority of the points scored from the Terriers, making it 74-62 with five minutes remaining.
- Despite the best efforts of the Terriers, the Beavers hit the necessary free-throws in the final few minutes to weather the storm and walk away with an 85-73 win over the Terriers.
