Strong Second Half Lifts Women’s Basketball Over Owls in Final NAC Home Game of Season

Waterville, Maine – Terrier's Women's Basketball would host the University of Maine Presque Isle in their final home game of the regular season and would pick up a win over the Owls by a score of 62-42 on Sunday, February 16th. Mollie Gray would lead all scorers with 20 points in Terrier's victory over the Owls.

Thomas: Overall (7-17), NAC (7-6) 

University of Maine Presque Isle: Overall (4-19), NAC (3-10) 

How it Happened: 

  • The Terriers and the Owls would go back and forth to start the first, but the Owls would take the lead midway through the quarter after a small scoring run. 

  • Pryelle Kesse-Beda would close the first quarter with a jumper, but the Terriers would trail by one point heading into the second quarter. 

  • The Terriers would reclaim the lead early in the second quarter with points from Kesse-Beda and Kubwalo. 

  • The Terriers would extend their lead late in the second quarter with points from Gray and Deja Hamilton to put the Terriers ahead 25-18 at the half. 

  • The Owls would make a statement coming out of the half, cutting the Terriers lead to just two points in the opening minutes of the third quarter. 

  • But the Terriers would quickly reclaim the momentum, responding with a 17-3 scoring run to close the third quarter to take a 42-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter. 

  • The Owls would try to cut into the Terriers lead in the fourth quarter, but the Terriers would ultimately control the remainder of the game after a strong offensive second half, taking a 62-42 victory in their final home North Atlantic Conference match of the season.

What's Next: 

The Terriers will play in their final regular season game of the year on Monday, February 17th, traveling to Worcester, Massachusetts to take on the Worcester State University Lancers in a non-conference match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 PM.
