Women’s Basketball Falls in NAC Quarterfinals to #1 Seed MMA

Castine, ME – The #4 seed Thomas College women's basketball team faced off against NAC East #1 seed Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) on Friday, February 21, falling 69-45. Senior Sky Kubwalo tied her season-high with 21 points to keep the Terriers fighting post halftime.

Game Highlights:
  • First-year Mollie Gray opened the scoring for the Terriers with a three-pointer in the first quarter.
  • The Mariners quickly outpaced the Terriers, building a nine-point lead. By the end of the first quarter, MMA was ahead 18-9.
  • MMA continued to extend their lead in the second quarter, at one point pulling ahead 36-19.
  • After halftime, Sky Kubwalo energized the Terriers by scoring 10 of their 14 points in the third quarter.
  • Despite Kubwalo's efforts, the Mariners capitalized on their opportunities, entering the final quarter with a 20-point advantage.
  • Scoring slowed in the fourth quarter, with all but two points coming in the first four minutes of play.
  • First-year Pryelle Kessa-Beda hit the final shot of the game with four minutes remaining, bringing the final score to 69-45 in favor of MMA.
