Men’s Basketball Unable to Find Rhythm in Game Two of Kentucky Trip Against Berea College

Danville, KY - Men's Basketball looked to bounce back on day two of its Kentucky trip at the Lee's Famous Recipe Classic against Berea College on Tuesday, December 30, but was ultimately unable to overcome a strong offensive performance from the Mountaineers, falling by a final score of 83–56.

How it Happened:
  • Faron Cureton, Isaiah Godley, and TJ Blackmon would help the Terriers jump out to an early 7-5 lead in the opening minutes of the 1st half with quick buckets.
  • The Mountaineers would claim the lead minutes later, but three-pointers from Jayden Desimone and Nate Hebert would keep the Terriers offense rolling.
  • Buckets from Spencer Minihan and Desimone midway through the 1st would cut the Terriers deficit to just 6 points.
  • Berea would reclaim a double digit lead shortly after, but a bucket in transition from Blackmon and made free-throws from Isiah Corson would make it a 20-29 game with 5 minutes to play in the half.
  • The Terriers would close out the final minutes of the 1st half with five points, but a late scoring run from the Mountaineers would put the Terriers down 27-44 heading into halftime.
  • The Mountaineers would come out of the half hot, opening the 2nd half with a quick 7-0 run to make it 27-47.
  • Corson, Cureton, and Ibrahim Doumbouya would get the Terriers offense going minutes later with buckets.
  • The Terriers would continue to battle midway through the 2nd half, with Blackmon knocking down a three and Payton Mitchell hitting a pair of free-throws to make it a 40-59 game.
  • Godley and Blackmon would continue to create scoring opportunities for the Terriers minutes later, combining for a quick 6 points late in the 2nd half.
  • The Terriers would close out the final minutes of play with 3 consecutive three-pointers from Brady Adams and Colby Mitchell, but the Mountaineers would ultimately control the rest of the of game to hand the Terriers a 56-83 loss.

  • The Terriers will return back home from their Kentucky trip to prepare for a North Atlantic Conference road contest against the Lesley University Lynx on Wednesday, January 7th. Tip off is scheduled for 6 PM.
