Women's Basketball Outmatched by Monks in Game Two of Terrier Tip-Off

Waterville, ME - Despite leading through the third quarter, Women's Basketball came up short against Saint Joseph's College of Maine, falling 50-38 in their second game of the Terrier Tip-Off Classic. 

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers would jump out to an early lead in the first quarter with four quick points thanks to Pryelle Kesse-Beda.
  • A strong defensive effort from the Terriers held the Monks to just two points in the opening quarter, giving Thomas a 6-2 lead heading into the second.
  • The Monks would pick up the pace early into the second by cutting into their deficit, but points from Kesse-Beda and Roxy Dagostino would keep the Terriers ahead 14-7 with 6 minutes to play in the half.
  • But the Terriers would find themselves down 17-18 at the half after a 11-3 scoring run by the Monks in the final minutes of the half.
  • Kesse-Beda and Emily Hagerty would help the Terriers reclaim the lead early in the third quarter with 5 quick points.
  • The Terriers would continue to maintain the momentum midway through the third quarter with three consecutive three-pointers thanks to Hagerty, Dagostino, and Elena Alderman.
  • The Monks would continue to cut into the Terriers lead in final minutes of the third quarter, but two made free throws from Kay McLellan would send the Terriers into the fourth quarter with a 34-29 lead.
  • The Terriers would look to maintain the momentum in the fourth quarter with an early bucket in the paint from Holly Loring.
  • But the Monks would flip the switch shortly after, completing a 12-0 run midway through the quarter to reclaim the lead in the final minutes of the game.
  • Despite the the Terriers comeback efforts, the Monks would ultimately hold on to hand the Terriers a 38-50 loss in their second game of the Terrier Tip-Off Classic.

  • The Terriers will look to bounce back on Saturday, November 15th, taking on Wellesley College in their first game of the Gene DeLorenzo Tip-Off Tournanment. Tip-Off is scheduled for 6:00 PM at Colby College.
