Men's Basketball Cruise Past Owls in 77-62 Home Conference Win

Waterville, ME - Men's Basketball hosted the University of Maine Presque Isle in a North Atlantic Conference match up on Saturday, November 22nd, earning a victory over the Owls by a final score of 77-62. The Terriers move to 1-1 in North Atlantic Conference play with the win over the Owls.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers would grab the momentum from the opening tip, scoring six quick points thanks to TJ Blackmon, Isiah Corson, and Jayden Desimone.
  • Buckets from Payton Mitchell and Corson shortly after would give the Terriers a 12-6 lead.
  • The Owls would find a response midway through the 1st half, completing a small scoring run to put the Terriers down 12-17.
  • Jayden Kim and Spencer Minihan would keep the Terriers offense rolling minutes later with buckets on back to back possessions, but the Owls would maintain a 5 point lead late in the 1st half.
  • Isaiah Godley would take over the Terriers offense late in the 1st half, scoring six consecutive points to give the Terriers a 2 point lead with less than 3 minutes remaining.
  • But the Owls would close the gap to end the half, and both teams would head into halftime tied at 32-32.
  • Both teams would trade points to open a tightly contested 2nd half.
  • But the Terriers would gain a 3 point lead minutes later with points from Mohamud and Jayden Desimone.
  • The Owls would attempt to gain momentum by chipping away at their deficit midway through the 2nd half.
  • But the Terriers would reclaim the momentum minutes later with an electric 11-1 run to give the Terriers a 57-45 lead.
  • Mitchell, Kim, and Godley would continue to fuel the offensive momentum, extending the Terriers lead to 17 points late in the second half.
  • The Owls would cut the Terriers lead to 12 points after completing a small scoring run with 5 minutes to play.
  • But a solid defense series from the Terriers in the final minutes of regulation would put the game out of reach, solidifying the Terriers first North Atlantic Conference win of the season by a final score of 77-62.
