Field Hockey Earns Emphatic 2-1 Win Against Husson

Bangor, ME - Field Hockey earned an emphatic and crucial 2-1 win on the road against the Husson Unviersity Eagles on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers start with momentum early on, earning several penalty corners.
  • Samantha Thebarge tested the Eagle goalkeeper in the first minute, forcing a save to keep it 0-0.
  • The Terriers followed up with two more penalty corners which led to another shot on goal, this time from Kara Richards, but the Eagle goalkeeper came up with the save.
  • Six minutes into the game against the run of play the Eagles took a 1-0 lead.
  • However, the Terriers were able to rebound, taking several more shots in the first quarter.
  • With seven seconds remaining in the first quarter Richards found Paige Gilbert, who scored to tie things at 1-1.
  • Despite the Terriers playing well in the second quarter, goalkeeper Eliya Drummond was called into action, making a good save with one minute until halftime to keep it 1-1.
  • The Terriers came out of halftime on a roll, controlling much of the quarter.
  • One minute in Leah Knight found the stick of Maci Freeman, who scored to give the Terriers a crucial 2-1 lead.
  • Drummond was forced to make two good saves a few minutes later, but the momentum swung in favor of the Terriers soon after.
  • Shots on goal from Richards, Freeman, and Gilbert in the span of a minute seconds forced three saves from the Eagle goalkeeper and twp defensive saves.
  • Despite the dominant play from the Terriers, they only took a one goal lead into the fourth quarter.
  • Momentum swung in the Eagles favor early on in the fourth, with Drummond coming up with five huge saves in the first five minutes of the quarter.
  • The Terriers were able to swing back once again, earning several chances from penalty corners in the second half of the period.
  • Shots from Thebarge, Freeman, and Caroline Hendrickson were all either saved or blocked in the closing minutes.
  • The Terriers were eventually able to earn themselves a crucial and hard-fought 2-1 win against a conference opponent.

  • Field Hockey will be back in action on Saturday, November 1st, when they take on the University of Maine Farmington at home in what will be the team's annual "Senior Day". Game time is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
