Ivarsson Hat-Trick Leads Men's Soccer to 3-2 Win Over UMFK

Waterville, ME - David Ivarsson scored all three of the Terrier goals in a hard-fought 3-2 win against the University of Maine Fort Kent Bengals on Wendesday, October 1st, 2025.

How it Happened:
  • The Bengals wasted no time, scoring directly off a well placed free kick to take a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute.
  • Just six minutes later the Terriers were awarded a penalty kick, but the effort went wide, keeping the game as is.
  • In the 23rd minute a good pass in front from Shafi Ibrahim found the foot of David Ivarsson, who volleyed the ball into the net to make it 1-1.
  • Only seven minutes later a double deflection from the Bengals in the box found the foot of Ivarsson, who scored again to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead.
  • In the 33rd minute, just three minutes later, a great through ball from Jeremiah Gomez found Ivarsson, who took a touch to the middle and fired the ball in the right side of the goal to make it 3-1.
  • Ivarsson scored his hat trick in just under 10 minutes, an incredibly impressive feat.
  • Heading into the second half the Bengals looked to bounce back, forcing several good saves from Terrier goalkeeper Jamie Fischer in the opening minutes.
  • Despite the pressure from the Bengals, a close range shot from Andrew Hodgins in the 64 minute nearly gave the Terriers a three goal lead, but his effort struck the crossbar.
  • In the final 20 minutes the Bengals continued to press, hoping for another opportunity to score.
  • With just 11 minutes left to play the Bengals were awarded and converted a penalty kick to make it 3-2.
  • Despite some good looks in the final few minutes, the Terrier defense held strong, ensuring the 3-2 win.
