Field Hockey Continues Win Streak Versus Rivier University

Waterville, ME – Field Hockey rolled to an emphatic 7-0 home victory against Rivier University, wining their fourth straight game on Sunday, September 8th, 2024.

How it Happened:  
  • The Terriers jumped out to a 1-0 lead within 30 seconds thanks to a goal from Julia Reny. Callie Moran found Reny in a scramble after a penalty corner to take an early lead.
  • This was followed 30 seconds later by a rocket of a shot from Samantha Thebarge, this time with Reny assisting.
  • Six minutes in the Terriers struck again, with Moran scoring an unassisted goal to give the Terriers a 3-0 lead.
  • With four minutes left in the first quarter Molly Littlefield inserted the ball to Avery Herrick from a penalty corner, and Thebarge took a shot to score to make it 4-0.
  • With under a minute left in the first quarter Herrick found the back of the net thanks to a good assist from Kara Richards.
  • The Raiders began to generate some opportunities in the second quarter, but all attempts on goal were either blocked, wide, or saved by Terrier goalkeeper Mackenzie Toner.
  • Despite the Raider chances the Terriers still dominated the second quarter - but couldn't find the back of the net.
  • The Terriers began the third quarter on a roll, generating four penalty corners and three shots in the first four minutes.
  • Six minutes into the quarter Reny escaped two defenders and found Adrianna Couture, as she placed the ball in the back of the net to score her first collegiate goal.
  • This was followed by a solo goal from Reny minutes later to give the Terriers a 7-0 lead.
  • Once again the Terriers largely dominated the fourth quarter and were able to generate several good scoring opportunities.
  • However, neither team was able to find the back of the net in the final 15 minutes, and the game ended in a dominant 7-0 win for the Terriers.

  • Field Hockey will look to continue their win streak as they travel to St. Joseph's College of Maine on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024. Game time is set for 6:00 PM.
