How it Happened:
- Within the first three minutes Terrier goalkeeper Elise Syphers was put in a difficult position, as the Spartans were awarded a penalty stroke.
- Syphers stepped up and made a huge save to keep things tied at 0-0.
- With just over a minute left to play in the first, Julia Reny scored to take an important 1-0 lead over the Spartans.
- Despite the early penalty stroke, the Terriers held the Spartans to very few scoring opportunities in the first quarter.
- Less than two minutes into the second quarter Samantha Thebarge had an opportunity in front of the Spartan goal, scoring to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead.
- With three minutes to go until halftime the Spartans got on the board, scoring to make it 2-1.
- Early into the third quarter the Spartans struck again to make it 2-2.
- The Terriers were able to respond, generating multiple scoring opportunities.
- Kara Richards had a shot that needed to be cleared off the goal line, as a Spartan defender made a defensive save to keep things level.
- Going into the fourth quarter both teams were still tied 2-2, looking for a go-ahead goal.
- The Spartans were able to take control in the final few minutes, generating multiple shots.
- With less than a minute to go the Spartans took the lead, 3-2.
- The Terriers were awarded two penalty corners as time expired but weren't able to generate any shots and were handed a 2-3 loss.
- Despite the loss, the Terriers outshot the Spartans 13-8.
