Waterville, ME – Field Hockey was defeated by a talented Simmons University Sharks squad by a score of 0-2 on Saturday, October 5
th, 2024.
Thomas College: Overall (6-5), CMCFHC (1-0)
Simmons University: Overall (11-1), GNAC (5-0)
How it Happened:
- The Sharks started the game well, generating a few scoring opportunities that needed to be saved by Terriers goalkeeper Elise Syphers within the first few minutes.
- Nine minutes in Samantha Thebarge had a good look on goal that was saved by the Sharks goalkeeper.
- Four minutes into the second quarter the Sharks found the breakthrough, making it 1-0.
- The Terriers were able to respond, taking control of the quarter shortly after.
- Two shots from Tatiana Roque needed to be either blocked or saved, and the Terriers also generated two penalty corner opportunities.
- The Terriers went into the third quarter down 0-1.
- 37 Seconds into the third the Sharks struck again to make it 0-2.
- Both teams traded chances for most of the quarter, but the Terriers were unable to make anything happen from their penalty corner opportunities.
- Despite being down 0-2, the Terriers largely dominated the fourth quarter.
- In the final three minutes they turned up the intensity, taking two quality shots on goal that needed heroic saves from the Sharks goalkeeper.
- Despite some positive moments the Terriers were unable to score, falling 0-2 against a talented Simmons University squad.
