Reny to Thebarge Connection Leads Field Hockey to Win Versus Mount Holyoke

South Hadley, MA – Samantha Thebarge scored two goals and Julia Reny added two assists to help take down Mount Holyoke by a score of 3-1 on Saturday, August 31st, 2024.

How it Happened:  
  • The Lyons started off the game well, generating four shots that were either blocked or saved by goalkeeper Elise Syphers.
  • In the final two minutes of the quarter the Terriers came alive, generating four penalty corners and four shots that were either blocked or saved.
  • Despite this flurry of shots, the Terriers entered the second quarter in a 0-0 deadlock.
  • Three minutes into the second quarter Tatiana Roque found Hilary Howard, who scored her first collegiate goal to make it 1-0.
  • The Lyons were able to respond, forcing a good save out of Syphers just two minutes later.
  • The Terriers largely dominated the final few minutes of the half but couldn't find the back of the net.
  • Four minutes into the second half, the Terriers looked primed to score another, generating three shots on goal. 
  • Samantha Thebarge finally found the breakthrough five minutes into the second half, thanks to an assist from Julia Reny.
  • The duo struck again just two minutes later, as Reny found Thebarge again to take an emphatic 3-0 lead over the Lyons.
  • The Terriers ended the third quarter well and up 3-0, but still had 15 minutes to play.
  • Within the first six minutes of the quarter the Terriers generated four shots on goal.
  • However, just one minute later the Lyons were awarded a penalty corner and made the most of it, scoring to make it 3-1.
  • The Terriers held the Lyons to just one shot in the final eight minutes of the game, earning a 3-1 win over the Lyons.
