Waterville, Maine – On Sunday, April 21st Thomas Baseball Celebrated three Seniors,
Aaron Young,
Lucas Harmon, and
Daniel May in a doubleheader vs Husson University. The Eagles took both games of the doubleheader as they would take three of the four game weekend set, game one ended with a score of 0-11 followed by game two which ended 4-8.
How it Happened:
Game One
- Thomas would look to bounce back in the third game of the weekend set, on Sunday in game one however the bats went quiet. It was the visiting eagles that would jump out to an early lead in the top of the first when A. Warren scored off of a Terrier error.
- In the third Husson added to their lead when R. Bousquet singled and advanced to third on an error. Three runs would come across on the play, two of them unearned.
- Husson would add 4 more runs in the 4th inning, M. Holmes would single to right scoring C. Rendell and J. Curtis, T. Evans would follow with a RBI Triple that plated Holmes. J. Cote would single up the middle to plate Evans to extend the lead to 8-0
- Husson would add a run in the 6th from a K. Cyr sac-fly and 2 runs in the 7th thanks to a J. Salvatore two run home run.
- 5 different Terriers would take the mound in the game. Jarrad Willette got the start going 3.1 innings allowing 8 runs on 7 hits, (4 earned runs) while striking out 5, Wyatt Thompson, Nick Barber, Gage Egglston and Christopher Rodriguez come in as relief pitchers. The terrier bullpen combined for 3.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits while striking out 3.
Game Two
- In game two the Eagles would start the scoring in the top of the second with a single from C. Marshall that scored T. Evans.
- In the 4th they would add to the lead as A. Warren reached on an error that plated R. Rametta
- Husson would add to the lead in the 6th when Sarren Singled to center, the single would bring home C. Marshall and R. Rametta
- T. Evans would add another insurance run in the 7th when his single plated M. Holms.
- In the bottom of the 7th the Terriers broke their 16 inning scoring drought. It began with a single from Samuel Keblinsky, he moved to second when DJ Cagnina was hit by a pitch. Patrick Temby would follow with a double to right that score Keblinsky and moved Cagnina to third. Jason Bartlett would advance both runners on a grounder to second, Hayden Dippner would single to bring home Temby and close the score to 5-3
- Husson would add 3 runs in the top of the 9th when C. Marshall homered scoring R. Bousquet and M. Holmes.
- Thomas would look for a 9th inning rally, Bartlett would look to spark it with a solo shot, but the home run would be the lone run in the inning as the Terriers dropped game two 8-4
- Tyler Cantey would get the start for the Terriers, he would go 5 full innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits while striking out 5.
- Ankit Shah, Roy Clayton and May would make up the relief, they combined for 6 runs allowed (5 earned) on 5 hits while striking out 4.
