Thomas and Husson Split Hard Fought Doubleheader

Bangor, Maine – Thomas Baseball Split a conference double header when they visited Husson University. The first game ended a close 5-3 win for the Terriers, but they ended up falling in game two 2-4 to end the day. 
 
How it Happened:

Game One
  • Thomas would strike early on in game one, Tony Meza would single to center field, Cam Haynes would advance Meza to second on a sacrifice ground out. Samuel Keblinsky would follow with a single to center that brought home Meza.
  • In the second inning Patrick Temby would kick things off with a single to right field. Jason Bartlett would advance him to second with a single up the middle, Hayden Dippner would load the bases with a single through the left side. A wild pitch would advance all runers and bring home Dippner, Elijah Morton would follow with a 4-3 fielders choice that would plate Bartlett to give the Terriers an early 3-0  lead. 
  • Husson would reply in the bottom of the second on an A. Snow single to center field that plated C. Rendell. 
  • Thomas would add two insurance runs across the next two innings, In the 4th Barteltt would work a walk, Morton would advance him to second on a sacrifice, Meza would bring home Bartlett with an RBI double to center. in the 5th Seymour would set the table with a walk before DJ Cagnina would double in the left center gap bringing home Matt Seymour, Cagnina would look to stretch the double to a triple on the play but was thrown out a third.
  • Husson would add a run in the 6th and the 7th off of an RBI triple from M. Holmes that plated C. Rendell and a Single from Rendell that scored A. Warren.
  • Andrew Pruell (5-0) would get the win for the Terriers, going 6.2 innings allowing 3 earned runs while striking out 7. Daniel May would come in to get the final out in the 7th to earn the save and secure the game 1 victory. 
 
Game Two
  • In game two the Eagles would start the scoring in the bottom of the second with a sac fly from C. Marshall that scored T. Evans.
  • Thomas would draw level in the 3rd when a wild pitch would bring Bartlett home from Third. Bartlett had reached on a single before advancing to third on back-to-back sacrifices from Dippner and Morton. 
  • Husson would have an immediate response in the bottom of the inning when J. Curtis would hit a 2-run blast to right. 
  • In the 4th Haynes would lead off with a double down the line in right, he would advance to third on a wild pitch. Keblinsky would get the rbbi as his ground out to second would plate Haynes and close the gap on the scoreboard to 3-2.
  • Husson would get an insurance run in the bottom of the 5th when J. Curtis would double to right scoring K. Cyr.
  • The 4-2 lead would be too much for the Terriers to overcome as Husson took game two to split the double header
