Thomas Softball Bounces Back with Doubleheader Sweep of VTSU Lyndon

Waterville, ME – Thomas Softball took on Vermont State University Lyndon in doubleheader fashion on Saturday, April 20th. They took a quick six inning win in game one, ending 9-1. A close low scoring game was the outcome of game two, but the Terriers came out on top with a 3-2 win over the Hornets.

How it Happened:

Game 1

  • The Hornets added their own run in the top of the third after a double to left center.
  • It wasn't until the bottom of the fifth where Thomas advanced their lead to 6-1. Maddie Rock started the rally doubling to left center, scoring Leah Knight who walked earlier. Whitten then singled to right field scoring M. Rock. A sac fly from E. Rock scored Oberholzer, who also walked earlier in the inning. The fourth run of the inning was scored after Kayla Duhaime singled to center, bringing in Whitten.
  • The run rule took effect in the bottom of the sixth after three more runs came in for the Terriers thanks to a single from Knight, RBI from M. Rock, and single from Whitten.
