How it Happened:
  • The Terriers started the game well, taking the lead in the first inning despite not getting any hits.
  • Hayden Dippner and Tony Meza walked, while a wild pitch meant they both advanced to the next base. Matt Seymour brought home Dippner thanks to an error by the Cougars to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Neither team would score again until the top of the third inning, when the Cougars struck back.
  • A home run and a single meant the Cougars took the lead by a score of 1-2.
  • The Cougars would tack on another run in the fourth inning thanks to a sacrifice fly.
  • The Terriers would fight back in the bottom of the fifth inning, once again scoring with no hits in the inning – thanks to four walks and a passed ball.
  • In the top of the sixth inning Jarrad Willette came into the game to pitch and struck out the first three batters he faced to keep the Terriers within one run.
  • In the bottom of the seventh inning Dippner sent a monster triple into the outfield, and shortly after a single from Seymour brought home Dippner to tie the game 3-3.
  • Both teams remained in the stalemate until the top of the ninth inning, when the Cougars scored two runs to take a 5-3 lead over the Terriers.
  • The Terriers were unable to score in the bottom of the ninth, and the final score ended in a 3-5 loss for the Terriers.
