Baseball Falls in Elms College Doubleheader

Davenport, FL – Baseball was unable to scrape together any wins against Elms College in a doubleheader on Monday, March 4th, 2024. Game one ended 6-11 and game two ended 8-9. These games served as the second and third of nine games played in the RussMatt Invitational at various locations in Florida.

Game One:
 
How it Happened:
  • Both teams traded runs in the first, as a single from Tony Meza scored Elijah Morton.
  • In the third inning, down 1-2, Cam Haynes tripled to right field to bring home Meza, and later Ben Seguin sent a single to center field to score Haynes to take a 3-2 lead.
  • The Blazers would respond in the fourth, scoring four runs to take a commanding 6-3 lead.
  • The Terriers took advantage of an error in the bottom of the fourth inning, and a single from Jeremy Spencer brought home Jason Bartlett to make it 4-6.
  • By the fifth inning the Terriers were able to claw their way back into the game, getting hits from Meza, Haynes, and Seguin to help tie the game up at 6-6.
  • The Terriers were unable to hang on, as the Blazers would score five runs combined in the sixth and seventh innings to hand the Terriers a 6-11 loss.

Game Two:
 
How it Happened:
  • The Blazers started off hot, scoring four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead over the Terriers.
  • Neither team scored in the second, but the Terriers were able to respond with four runs of their own in the third.
  • A triple from Morton, doubles from Meza and Matt Seymour, and a single from Hayden Dippner tied the game up 4-4 after the top of the third inning.
  • The Terriers would score three more runs in the fourth. Singles from Morton and Dippner helped the terriers take a 7-4 lead over the Blazers.
  • The Terriers were able to hold the Blazers until the bottom of the fifth inning, when they scored five runs to take back the lead 9-7.
  • Meza was able to capitalize and get on base thanks to an error from the Blazers, which also scored Morton in the sixth inning to make it a one run game.
  • The Terriers were ultimately unable to score in the top of the seventh inning, and the game ended in an 8-9 loss.

  • Baseball will look to bounce back as they take on Russell Sage College and Albion College on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024. Game times are set for 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM.
