Mariners Down Women’s Lacrosse 11-19

Box Score Castine, ME – Women's Lacrosse was downed by the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners by a score of 11-19 on Saturday, March 30th, 2024. This game served as the Terriers sixth game of the season and their second matchup against the Mariners this season.

How it Happened:
  • The first 10 minutes of the first quarter was fast paced, with both teams combining to score six goals in that time.
  • The Mariners got on the board first, but Mara Gentry scored nine seconds later to tie things up at 1-1.
  • The Mariners struck again four minutes later, but the Terriers responded with two goals of their own.
  • Alia Chasse took advantage of a free position attempt to tie the game at two a piece, and Mary LaRochelle scored an unassisted goal two minutes later to give the Terriers a 3-2 lead.
  • The Mariners quickly scored three unanswered goals and tacked on another a few minutes later to give them a 6-3 lead heading into the second quarter.
  • Emily Wallingford opened the scoring in the second quarter thanks to an assist from Chasse, but the Mariners were able to respond a minute later.
  • The Terriers closed out the half with goals from Isabella Pelletier and Chasse, but still found themselves down 6-9.
  • The Terriers dominated the first ten minutes of the third quarter, scoring four unanswered goals to take back the lead.
  • Pelletier would score two while Chasse and LaRochelle would follow to claw back the lead from the Mariners 10-9.
  • The Mariners responded with four goals to close out the quarter, and the Terriers once again found themselves down 10-13.
  • The fourth quarter started well for the Terriers, with Jorgie Clarke winning the draw control, and Chasse scoring 40 seconds later to make it 11-13.
  • The Mariners were able to control the remaining 13 minutes and were able to thwart any Terrier opportunities.
  • The final score was 11-19, as the Mariners handed the Terriers a loss in their first official conference game of the season.

  • Women's Lacrosse will look to bounce back as they take on University of Maine Farmington at home on Monday, April 1st, 2024. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
