Terriers Men’s Lacrosse Falls in Home Opener Despite 2nd Half Comeback

Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College Men's Lacrosse team was defeated by the University of Southern Maine Huskies by a score of 15–9, on Saturday, March 16th.  

Records: 

USM: Overall (2-5) 

Thomas: Overall (0-2) 
 

How it Happened: 

  • The Huskies would strike first midway through the first quarter, but Hunter Crocker would answer quickly with an unassisted goal of his own tie the game 

  • The Huskies would score once more in the first quarter, giving USM a 2-1 lead 

  • Charlie Foster-Major would open the second quarter with an early goal to knot the game up  

  • But the Huskies would turn up the pressure on the Terriers, scoring 4 unanswered goals with just under 7 minutes to play, giving USM a 6-2 lead 

  • Jack Morrill would get the Terriers going with an unassisted goal, but the Huskies would score 2 more goals late in the quarter to give the Huskies an 8-3 lead at the half 

  • USM would start the second half with a 5-0 run on the Terriers to make it 13-3 in favor of the Huskies 

  • Connor Hamilton and first year Dustyn Hinkley would score back-to-back goals midway through the third quarter 

  • Timothy Worster would continue to keep the momentum going, scoring an unassisted goal and another goal assisted by Hunter Simpson, putting the Terriers down 13-7 

  • The Terriers would score twice off goals from Simpson and Hamilton midway through the 4th, but the Huskies would score two more goals and hold on to hand the Terriers a 15-9 loss
