Terriers Overpowered by Mules in Men’s Ice Hockey

Waterville, Maine – Thomas Men's Ice Hockey would take on the Colby College Mules on Thursday, December 5th, but would be unable to overcome the Mules and would be defeated by a score of 5-1. 

Records: 

Thomas: Overall (6-6-0) 

How it Happened: 

  • The Terriers and the Mules would go back and forth with offensive opportunities early in the first period. 

  • Thomas would have two power play opportunities midway through the first period but would be unable to capitalize on both of them. 

  • The Mules would score the opening goal of the game late in the first period and would take a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission. 

  • Terrier's Goaltender Matt D'Ortona would make 15 saves in a closely contested first period.  

  • The Mules would take control of the second period on both ends of the ice, scoring three goals to put the Mules up 4-0 after two periods of play. 

  • Nick Fischetto would give the Terriers some life midway through the third period with a goal assisted by Colin Hines

  • But the Mules would score a late goal in the third and would shut down the Terriers for the remainder of the period to hand Thomas a 5-1 loss. 

  • D'Ortona would finish the contest with 28 saves despite the loss against the Mules.

What's Next: The Terriers will look to bounce back at home on Saturday, December 7th, hosting the United States Coast Guard Academy club hockey team. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:40 PM at the Thomas College Ice Vault.
