Waterville, Maine – Thomas Women's Basketball would open their season at home against the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks in their first game of the Terrier Tip-Off Classic, and would be defeated by a score of 66-41, on Saturday, November 9th.  

Records: 

Thomas: Overall (0-1) 

Saint Joseph's:  Overall (1-0) 

How it Happened: 

• The Monks would jump out to an early 8-2 lead in the first, but buckets from Bri Benecke, Holly Loring, and Pryelle Kesse-Beda would put the Terriers down 10-9 after one quarter of play. 

• The Terriers would start the game strong defensively, making key defensive stops to hold the Monks to just 10 points in the first quarter. 

• Saint Joseph's would lead by 8 points early in the second quarter but an Elena Alderman three pointer and a free throw from Deja Hamilton would put the Terriers right back in the game. 

• The Monks would go on a run late in the second quarter and would take a 31-17 lead at the half. 

• Benecke and Sky Kubwalo would try to give the Terriers some momentum with some early points in the third quarter. 

• But the Monks would pick up the pace offensively in the third quarter and would put the Terriers down 53-27 after 30 minutes of play. 

• Annabelle Morris would open the fourth quarter with 6 quick points, but the Monks would take control of the remainder of the fourth quarter and would hand the Thomas a 66-41 loss in their home opener.

The Terriers look to bounce back in game two of the Terrier Tip-Off Classic, hosting the New England College Pilgrims, on Sunday, November 10th. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.
