Men’s Ice Hockey Unable to Bounce Back Against UMass Amherst

Hallowell, ME – Men's Ice Hockey was unable to bounce back in a 3-5 loss against University of Massachusetts Amherst at the Thomas College Ice Vault on Saturday, November 16th, 2024.
 

Thomas College: Overall (5-4)

 
How it Happened:  
  • The Minutemen jumped out to an early 1-0 lead within the first two minutes.
  • The Terriers came right back and responded, with Tyler Gay finding Lucas Martin two minutes later.
  • With 12 minutes remaining in the first period Colin Hines found Nicholas Fischetto, who scored to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead.
  • Going into the second period the Minutemen responded six minutes in to tie things at 2-2.
  • Matt D'Ortona was forced to make some fantastic saves in the second and reached 13 total for the period (24 total).
  • Less than two minutes into the third the Minutemen scored again to take a 3-2 lead. 
  • The Terriers responded with eight minutes remaining, with Danny Fuller finding Aaron Whitley, who scored to tie things at 3-3.
  • With just under four minutes remaining the Minutemen scored again and went on to score an empty net goal in the closing minutes to hand the Terriers a 3-5 loss.

What's Next:
  • Men's Ice Hockey will look to bounce back as they take on Springfield College at the Thomas College Ice Vault on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024. Puck drop is set for 5:30 PM.
