Women’s Basketball Unable to Overcome Chargers in 52-63 Loss

New London, New Hampshire – Thomas Women's Basketball would trail by as little as 7 points at the end of the third quarter against Colby-Sawyer College, but the Terriers would be unable to overcome the Chargers and would take a 52-63 loss on Wednesday, November 13th.  Twelve different Terriers would score against the Chargers despite the loss.

How it Happened: 

  • Both teams would go back and forth offensively in the first quarter, but the Chargers would jump out to a 14-11 lead after the first quarter.  

  • An Emily Hagerty three pointer would tie the game up early in the second quarter, but the Chargers would answer with a scoring run, putting the Terriers down 26-14 midway through the second. 

  • The Terriers would try to cut into the Chargers lead with Elena Alderman and Sarah Davis combining for 10 points in the final 5 minutes of the second quarter, but the Chargers offense would continue to find a response to the Terriers and would lead at the half by a score of 35-24. 

  • The Terriers would come out of the half strong on both ends of the floor, with 5 different Terriers scoring in the third quarter and only allowing 9 points to the Chargers, cutting Colby Sawyers lead to just 7 points with ten minutes to play. 

  • The Terriers would look to continue to cut the deficit in the fourth quarter, but the Chargers defense would shut down the Terriers offense and would take control of the remainder of the match to hand Thomas a 52-63 road loss.

The Terriers will travel to Colby College on Saturday, November 16th, and will face off against the Westfield State University Nestors in their first matchup of the Gene DeLorenzo Tip Off Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 8PM.
