Bangor, ME – Field Hockey secured home field advantage in the Central Maine Collegiate Field Hockey Conference Championship match through a 4-3 comeback win against the Husson University Eagles on Sunday, October 27
th, 2024.

How it Happened:
- The first quality scoring chance of the game came four minutes in, when Callie Moran had a shot saved by the Eagles goalkeeper from a penalty corner.
- The Eagles responded with two shots of their own, but both were blocked thanks to some good defensive coverage.
- With three minutes left in the quarter the Eagles forced two saves from Terrier goalkeeper Elise Syphers.
- Despite the two saves the Eagles took advantage of a penalty stroke seconds later.
- Three minutes into the second quarter the Eagles scored again, this time from a penalty corner to make it 0-2.
- With four minutes remaining in the half the Terriers were awarded a penalty stroke of their own, and Julia Reny scored to make it 1-2.
- With less than two minutes remaining in the half Maci Freeman found Samantha Thebarge from a penalty corner.
- Thebarge would send a well-placed shot past the goalkeeper to tie things up 2-2.
- Despite the momentum going into the second half, the Eagles struck again four minutes into the third quarter to make it 2-3.
- Exactly two minutes later Reny was able to escape several defenders and slotted the ball in the cage to tie the game once again 3-3.
- With two minutes left in the third quarter Freeman found Thebarge again from a penalty corner, and Thebarge scored to make it 4-3.
- With the Eagles desperate for a goal, the Terriers defense was able to lock in, not allowing a single shot on goal in the final 15 minutes to earn a 4-3 win.

- With this win, Field Hockey will host the CMCFHC Championship game against the winner of #2 Husson University and #3 University of Maine Farmington at Bernatchez Field on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024. Game time is TBD.
