Men’s Soccer Earns 7-1 Victory Over Owls on Senior Night

Waterville, Maine – The Terriers would put on an offensive clinic against the University of Maine Presque Isle Owls, taking a 7-1 victory on their senior night. Five different Terriers would score in their final regular season contest of the year. Men's Soccer finishes as the 2024 NAC Regular Season Champions, and will take on #4 Husson University in their upcoming match. More information can be found below.

How it Happened:  

  • The Terriers would push the attack on the Owls, putting up five shots on goal early in the first but could not capitalize.

  • The Terriers would eventually strike first after being fouled in the box, with Joshua Joseph scoring off a penalty kick to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead midway through the first half.

  • The Owls would get penalty kick of their own just minutes later to tie the game at 1-1.

  • Isaiah Francis would later put a beautifully placed header past the keeper off an Ivarsson corner kick to put the Terriers up two goals early in the second half.

  • Joseph would complete his hat-trick midway through the second half, scoring two goals just minutes apart from each other to give the Terriers a 5-1 lead.

  • The Terriers defense would shut down the Owls attack for the entirety of the second half to seal a 7-1 victory on their "Senior Night"

  • Senior goalkeeper Matthew Gosselin would finish the contest with four saves in 65 minutes played.

What's Next: 

  • The Terriers have claimed the #1 seed and will host the North Atlantic Conference East Division Tournament. Thomas will take on the Husson University Eagles at Smith Field in the Semi-Final round on Saturday, November 7th with a time to be announced soon.
