Waterville, ME – Men's Soccer secured home field advantage for the first two matches of the 2024 North Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the Husson University Eagles.
Thomas College: Overall (9-1-3), NAC (6-0-2)
Husson University: Overall (8-4-3), NAC (5-3-1)
How it Happened:
- The Terriers got off to a fantastic start, as a corner kick from Joshua Joseph found the head of Adam Elkott, who flicked the ball on to Tre Burgess, who scored to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead 4 minutes in.
- The Eagles responded with three shots in the next four minutes, two of which needed to be saved by Terrier goalkeeper Jamie Fischer.
- In the 22nd minute Joseph found himself on a fast break, but his shot from a distance flew inches over the crossbar.
- The Terriers ended the first half with a shot on goal from Kris Loubier that needed to be saved by the Eagles goalkeeper.
- The Eagles had the majority of possession to start the second half, generating four shots in 20 minutes.
- In the 65th minute the Eagles were awarded a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box and scored to tie things at 1-1.
- Both teams were only able to generate one more shot on goal for the remaining 25 minutes, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
- With this result Men's Soccer will now have home field advantage through the first two NAC Men's Soccer Playoffs
