Bangor, ME – Women's Basketball was outmatched by Husson University 34-63 in day two of a doubleheader on Saturday, January 27
th, 2024.
Thomas College: Overall (8-12), NAC (5-5)
Husson University: Overall (11-9), NAC (7-3)
How it Happened:
- The Eagles started the game on a 13-0 run, while the Terriers struggled from the field.
- Brooke Jones scored the first points of the quarter for the Terriers seven minutes in with a three-point shot to make it 3-13.
- The Eagles then went on another 14-0 run to eventually make it 5-27 at the end of the first quarter.
- The Terriers continued to struggle from the field in the second quarter, while the Eagles scored 11 straight points before Deja Hamilton would hit a three-point shot to make it 8-38.
- The Terriers only allowed two points from the Eagles in the final five minutes of the first half.
- The third quarter was an improvement from the field, but the Eagles still held a commanding 56-18 lead going into the fourth quarter.
- The Terriers largely dominated the fourth quarter, scoring nearly as many points in the quarter as they had all game combined.
- A 10-0 Terrier run to start was led by Hannah Coolen, who hit two three-point shots in the opening two minutes.
- This was followed by a good jumper from Hana Isahac and a layup from Paige Lafrenaye.
- The Terriers would once again make a defensive stand, only allowing five Eagle points in the final five minutes of the game.
- The Terriers would fall 34-63 but outscored the Eagles 16-7 in the fourth quarter.
Inside the Stats:
- The Terriers had 24 points from their bench, while the Eagles only had 23.
- Coolen led all Terrier scorers with six points, shooting 50% from beyond the three-point line.
