Woodrow Leads Terriers to Draw Against 2022 NAC Champs Husson

Bangor, ME – Micky Woodrow scored two important goals to lead the Terriers to a draw against the 2022 North Atlantic Conference Champions, Husson University. The final score was 2-2 on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023.

How it Happened:  
  • The Eagles dominated early on, taking seven shots in the first 14 minutes. None were able to find the back of the net, thanks to Terriers' goalkeeper Matthew Gosselin.
  • The Terriers responded with a positive seven minutes, generating two shots, one of which needed to be saved. 
  • In the 30th minute the Eagles scored the opening goal and looked to expand their 1-0 lead in the coming minutes.
  • The Terriers were able to generate a few more chances before halftime, with two shots, one of which was on target.
  • The second half saw much more action, as Eagles goalkeeper Alex Rechsteiner was given a red card in the 49thminute. 
  • Playing a man up, the Terriers capitalized. Three minutes later, Hunter Smith sent a ball into Micky Woodrow, who tied the game up at 1-1.
  • The Eagles were unable to gather themselves, as Woodrow scored again in the 60th minute to take a 2-1 lead. Joshua Joseph provided the assist, and hit the post on a shot under a minute later.
  • The Eagles were able to settle down, and scored in the 75th minute to tie the game at 2-2.
  • Eagles goalkeeper Samuel Bermudez had to make two important saves in a span of 10 seconds in the 83rd minute to preserve the draw.
  • Neither team could find the net in the remaining time, with the game ending at 2-2.
  • The Terriers were outshot 27-14, but made the most of their chances. 
 
The Goalkeepers:  
Terriers' goalkeeper Gosselin played the full 90 minutes, making an important seven saves. 
Three Eagles goalkeepers saw time in net. Rechsteiner played 49 minutes, making two saves. Carlos Galloni played five minutes, making one save. Finally, Bermudez played the final 34 minutes, making two saves.
 
What's Next:
The Terriers will continue their road trip against Maine Maritime Academy, on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
