Women’s Lacrosse Drops First Conference Game Against MMA

Box Score Castine, ME – Women's Lacrosse traveled to Maine Maritime Academy to play their first NAC Conference game on Saturday, April 1st. The Mariners came out on top beating the Terriers 18-8, which started from a big first quarter for MMA. This came five days after the Mariners won 14-13 in overtime against Thomas.
 
The Records:
Thomas College: Overall (0-6), NAC (0-1)
Maine Maritime Academy: Overall (6-2), NAC (1-0)
 
How it Happened:
  • The Mariners had a big first half starting off the first fifteen minutes with a 7-0 lead
  • The Terriers scored their first goal right off the bat in the second quarter by Scarlett Raymond-Ayer
  • Goal number eight from MMA came a few minutes later, but was quickly responded by Alia Chasse for the Terriers second goal
  • MMA went on a four goal run bringing the game to a 12-2 score
  • To end the second quarter Mary LaRochelle scored two goals, first goal went unassisted after a free position, the second was assisted by first year Sage Brown
  • The Mariners added two more goals at the start of the third quarter, which was followed by Samantha Snows free position goal
  • To wrap up the third quarter goals from both MMA and Thomas was made, the Terriers goal came from Anna Chadwick
  • MMA added two more goals to their lead bringing the game to a 17-6 score
  • Chasse got her second goal of the day, followed by Aubrey Schaeffer's goal which was assisted again by Brown
  • The Mariners add their final goal in the last minute of the game, ending with a final score of 18-8
 
The Goalkeepers:
The Terriers goalkeeper, Lizzy Gotay, recorded eight goals in today's game.
 
What is Next:
The Terriers will play their next game in Bangor, Maine on Saturday, April 8th against the Husson University Eagles at 3:30pm.
