Colby Shoots Past Men's Basketball

Waterville, ME - In a cross-town matchup the Mules Men's Basketball team proved to be too much for the Terriers, as the Terriers fell 53-86.

Thomas College: Overall (2-4)
Colby College: Overall (3-2)

How it Happened:
  • Colby started quickly jumping out to 14-8 lead, but James Phelan would answer back for Thomas, scoring 12 points to put the Terriers in the lead 24-17 half way through the first half. 
  • The Terrier run was sparked by several outstanding defensive plays and effort plays. Parker Desjardins chipped in with seven points of his own during this time.
  • Colby would close the gap and then take the lead after going on a 12 point run. The run put the Mules up 30-26, and they never looked back.
  • The Mules came out of the timeout firing, and after back to back threes, four free throws, and a layup, Thomas found themselves in a 16 point hole. 
  • Cooper Wirkala would put an end to the Colby run as he knocked down a free throw, the Terrier basket ended a stretch of 24 straight points for Colby. 
  • Colby would take a 45-31 lead into the half. 
  • The Mules started the second half the way they ended the first, scoring several times within the first two minutes, the lead would grow to 21 points, a pair of layups from Phelan would prevent the gap from being bigger. 
  • Desjardins provided some offense for the Terriers scoring six more points but Colby's offense kept pace and prevented Thomas from closing the gap on the scoreboard. 
  • Colby would end up taking the win 86-53.
Inside the Statistics:
  • The Terriers went 21-77 from the floor (27%) 4-18 from 3 (21%) and 7-12 from the line (58%) while the Mules went 31-69 from the floor (45%) 11-28 from three (39%) and 14-16 from the line (87%).
  • James Phelan led Thomas with 18 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.
  • The Mules had three different players in double figures, Max Poulten (12 points) Lucas Green (14 points) and Jack Lawson (15 points)
What's Next:
  • The Terriers return to the court when they travel to Bowdoin College on Tuesday November 28th, tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
