WATERVILLE, MAINE – The Thomas Men's Basketball Team took their second win of the season in a close battle against New England College by a score of 73-68 on the second day of the Charlie Ryan Classic on Sunday November 12th.

NEC would take an early lead in the first half going up 12-3 on the Terriers

But Sophomore James Phelan, Junior Parker Desjardins, and Junior Jackson Ruelke would take charge of the offense hitting some big shots to cut the deficit to 2 points with 12 minutes to play in the 1st half

The Terriers would go back and forth with the Pilgrims for the next 7 minutes, but NEC would eventually pick up the momentum on both ends of the floor and would take an 8-point lead with just under 5 minutes to play in the half

NEC would take a 32-27 lead to end the first half

The Pilgrims would continue to apply pressure on the Terriers taking an 11-point lead 4 minutes into the second half

Ruelke and Graduate student Cooper Wirkala would start to heat up, scoring on multiple possessions to tie the game up with 12 minutes left to play

Phelan, Wirkala and Desjardins would go on to hit 4 three pointers in less than 2 minutes giving the Terriers a 11-point lead

New England College would keep it close in the remaining minutes of the match, but the Terriers would hold on for a 73-68 win after an impressive shooting performance in the 2nd half
