Waterville, ME – Men's Soccer was unable to find the back of the net, and came up short as they dropped a match versus SUNY Canton 0-2 on Saturday, October 7
th, 2023.
Thomas College: Overall (4-5-5), NAC (2-2-0)
SUNY Canton: Overall (3-7-1) NAC (1-2-1)
How it Happened:
- The Terriers started the game well, generating three shots within the first 9 minutes. Daud Abdi's shot forced a save from SUNY Canton Goalkeeper Owen Kwong.
- However, SUNY Canton took the momentum when they scored in the 12th minute.
- The Terriers responded with a shot from Andrew Poulin six minutes later, but it was saved again by Kwong.
- The Terrier defense held strong, only allowing a few shots in the first half.
- The second half was a defensive battle, with only one combined shot in the first 25 minutes of the second half.
- In the 72nd minute, Cole Washburn's attempt on goal was saved again by Kwong.
- Three minutes later, Micky Woodrow beat two defenders and fired a shot, but Kwong made a jumping save to deny the chance.
- In the 81st minute, SUNY Canton doubled their lead, leaving only nine minutes left for the Terriers to try and turn the game around.
- The Terriers were only able to generate one shot in the remaining time, and the game ended 0-2.
- The Terriers were outshot 11-8, and eight yellow cards were given out.
The Goalkeepers:
Matthew Gosselin got the start, playing the entire 90 minute in net, making three saves.
SUNY Canton goalkeeper Kwong also played all 90 minutes, making six saves.

The Terriers will look to bounce back at home against Vermont State University Johnson on Sunday, October 8
th, 2023. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
