Reny Leads Field Hockey to NAC Semifinal Win Versus SUNY Morrisville

Bangor, ME – Julia Reny scored four goals and added an assist to lead Field Hockey to an emphatic 7-0 win over SUNY Morrisville in the North Atlantic Conference Field Hockey Semifinal on Saturday, October 28th, 2023.

Thomas College: Overall (11-7), NAC (4-1)  
SUNY Morrisville: Overall (2-15) NAC (2-2)

How it Happened:  
  • The Terriers didn't waste any time, with Samantha Thebarge scoring within a minute in a half to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.
  • Two minutes later, Julia Reny scored the first of four goals on the day, with the assist coming from Molly Littlefield off of a penalty corner.
  • Reny would strike again eight minutes into the first quarter to stretch the lead to 3-0.
  • In the final two minutes of the first quarter, Mustang goalie Emmaly Noeller was forced to make four saves, two of which were in a five-second span.
  • Seven minutes into the second quarter, Paige Gilbert provided an assist to Julia Reny to make the score 4-0.
  • The Terriers had eight penalty corners in the second quarter and took their commanding 4-0 lead into halftime break. 
  • The Terriers forced nine saves in the third quarter out of Noeller, but weren't able to find the back of the net.
  • With eight minutes left to play in the fourth quarter, Thebarge would find Kayci Faulkingham, who scored to take a 5-0 lead.
  • Just over one minute later, Reny would score her fourth goal of the game, leaving her mark in another dominant performance.
  • With almost no time remaining on the clock, the Terriers had one final chance. Eva-Marie Stevens found Isabel Kramer, who scored to end the game with a 7-0 win.
  • Reny would lead the charge with four goals and one assist, putting her at an incredible 40 goals on the season. This ranks second in the nation out of all NCAA Division III Field Hockey players.
  • The Terriers outshot the Mustangs 41-5 as they advance to the NAC Field Hockey Championship.
The Goalkeepers:  

Two goalies saw time in net today. Elise Syphers played the entire first half and made two saves. Mackenzie Toner played the entire second half, not needing to make any saves. 

Mustang goalie Noeller made an extremely impressive 19 saves, denying the Terriers countless golden opportunities.
 
What's Next:

The Terriers will take on Husson University in the NAC Field Hockey Championship on Sunday, October 29th, 2023. Gametime is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
