Grace Slenker both scored three goals to lead Field Hockey to a huge 11-0 win over University of Maine Farmington on Thursday, October 12
th, 2023.
Thomas College: Overall (8-6), NAC (1-0)
University of Maine Farmington: Overall (1-11), NAC (1-2)
How it Happened:
- The first goal of the game came less than 40 seconds in, as Reny scored the first of three to take a 1-0 lead.
- Leah Knight would double the lead two minutes in, and the Terriers never looked back.
- Seven minutes in, Avery Herrick would score to make it 3-0. The Terriers ended the first quarter up 5-0.
- One minute into the second quarter, Molly Littlefield sent in a pass off a penalty corner to Samantha Thebarge, who directed a shot toward net which hit the back of the boards, making the score 6-0.
- The Terriers would add another four minutes into the second quarter, this time from Eva-Marie Stevens.
- With one minute remaining in the third quarter, Reny would complete the hat trick after a scramble in the box. Reny was able to find the finishing touch to extend the lead to nine goals.
- Slenker would go on to score two goals in the fourth quarter, both excellent shots, which completed the hat trick.
- The Terriers went on to win 11-0, outshooting the Beavers 41-1 in a dominant performance.
The Goalkeepers:
Two Terriers' goalies saw time in net tonight.
Elise Syphers started the game, not needing to make any saves in 30 minutes of action.
Mackenzie Toner played the entire second half, making one save.
Beaver goalie Ella Grant played all 60 minutes, making an impressive 14 saves.
What's Next:
The Terriers will look to continue their success as they take on rivals Husson University at home Saturday, October 14
th, 2023. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
