BANGOR, Maine - Thomas softball fell in extra innings in their second North Atlantic Conference Championship Tournament game against Husson University by a score of 3-2.
The Terriers wasted no time getting on the board, scoring a run off of a Claudia Migliaccio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) single. Neither team was able to score again until the bottom of the fifth when Teagan Blackie hit a home run to left center field to tie things up.
Neither team was able to score again in regulation, so the game went to extra innings. Thomas struck first in the eighth inning when Bailey Dunphy (North Anson, Maine) scored off a throwing error by Husson. The Eagles would answer however with their second home run of the game, this time a two run walk off by Kenzie Dore.
Kelsey Currier (Cumberland, Maine) and Dunphy both had two hits for Thomas. Currier also pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out seven.
The Terriers will now face SUNY-Canton tomorrow in an elimination game at 9 a.m. in Bangor. If they win that game they will play again at 3 p.m. against the winner of Cazenovia and NVU-Lyndon.
