BANGOR, Maine - Thomas won their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament elimination game on Saturday morning 9-0 over SUNY-Canton, setting up another must win this afternoon to advance to Sunday's championship game.
The Terriers wasted no time, getting the lead in the first inning.
Bailey Dunphy (North Anson, Maine) brought the first run home with a double up the middle.
Claudia Migliaccio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also added a double to score two runs to give Thomas a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
The biggest inning for the Terriers was the 2nd inning, in which they scored five runs. Two runs were scored on ground outs while
Kaylee Fonseca (Seekonk, Mass.) and Dunphy both added a single bringing two runs home. Thomas tacked on an insurance run in the fourth.
Dunphy led the offense with two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Migliaccio contributed three runs driven in and Fonseca contributed two RBIs. Migliaccio got the win in the circle for Thomas, pitching five innings, allowing just three hits and striking out five. She was very efficient, only throwing 68 pitches. With the win Migliaccio improves to 4-2 on the year
Thomas now awaits the winner of NVU-Lyndon and Cazenovia, who are playing at 11 a.m. on Saturday. First pitch for the Terrier's next game is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday.
