WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas men's tennis avenged their early season loss to the University of Southern Maine at home on Thursday, beating the Huskies 6-3.
The Terriers started by taking two out of the three doubles points.
Jose Afonso (Tenerife, Spain) and
Gabe McPhail (Windham, ME) cruised at #1 doubles, winning 8-1.
Liam Gould (Freeport, Maine) and
Rajhan Munnings (Providenciales, Turks and Caicos) also won easily at #2 doubles, 8-2.
Kegan Rodrigue (Auburn, Maine) and
Caleb Daigneault (Cornville, Maine) fought hard at #3 doubles but came up just short losing 8-5.
Afonso and McPhail kept their momentum going both winning their singles matches 6-2, 6-3. Gould won in in two tight sets at #2 singles to clinch the match for Thomas. Munnings was the last match to finish. He won the first set 7-5, went down 3-0 before coming back and winning the second set in a tiebreaker.
UP NEXT: Thomas travels to SUNY-Delhi for their conference finale on Saturday, with matches slated to begin at noon.
