Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men's tennis hands Broncos first conference loss of the year.

WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas men's tennis handed SUNY-Delhi their first conference loss of the season, when they defeated the Broncos 6-3 at home.

Thomas got off to a strong start in doubles, sweeping all three positions. At #1 Jose Afonso (Tenerife, Spain) and Gabe McPhail (Windham, ME) won a tight battle 8-5 while Caleb Daigneault (Cornville, Maine) and Kegan Rodrigue (Auburn, Maine) squeaked out #3 doubles 8-6. Liam Gould (Freeport, Maine) and Rajhan Munnings (Providenciales, Turks and Caicos) cruised at #2 doubles winning 8-1.

Gould and McPhail won easily at #2 and #3 singles respectively. Afonso fought hard at #1 but lost to Jarod Rackliffe, who is the reigning North Atlantic Conference Player of The Year. Daigneault won 8-2 at #6 singles, playing only a pro set since the match had already been determined.

With the win, Thomas moves into first place in the NAC standings. The two teams will meet again next Saturday at SUNY-Delhi.

UP NEXT: The Terriers will travel to Salem State on Monday for a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m.
