Softball succumbs to offense prowess of Polar Bears

WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas softball was swept by Bowdoin College in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Colby. 

Game 1: Thomas 0 Bowdoin 8 

The Polar Bears got off to a quick start scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. They continued their offensive prowess scoring runs in four different innings to cap off their victory in game one. 
 
Bailey Dunphy (North Anson, Maine), Kasey Champney (Holland, Vt.) and Cheyenne Simpson (Peyton, Colo.) all had hits for the Terriers. Kelsey Currier (Cumberland, Maine) pitched the entire game for Thomas, allowing eight runs on 11 hits while striking out seven. 
 

Game 2: Thomas 1 Bowdoin 11

Bowdoin struck first again in the second game, scoring one run in the first inning. They were able to score four runs in both the fourth and fifth inning. 
 
Thomas' lone run came in the fifth inning when Kayla Duhaime (Ellsworth, Maine) hit a solo home run to right center field. Anna Piirainen (West Paris, Maine) got the other hit in the game for the home team. 
 
Jordan Devine (Belgrade, Maine) started the game on the mound for the Terriers, going four and a third innings. Currier returned to the mound to close the game out for Thomas. 
 
UP NEXT: The Terriers will travel to New England College on Tuesday, April 12th to play a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
