Northfield, Vt. - Thomas men's tennis fell to Norwich State on Sunday afternoon 7-2, in a non-conference matchup.
The Rooks got out to a quick 3-0 lead in doubles and never looked back. Thomas' #1 doubles team of
Jose Afonso (Tenerife, Spain) and
Gabe McPhail (Windham, ME) fell 8-5 while
Liam Gould (Freeport, Maine) and
Rajhan Munnings (Providenciales, Turks and Caicos) lost at #2 doubles by the same score. At #3 doubles
Caleb Daigneault (Cornville, Maine) and
Kegan Rodrigue (Auburn, Maine) fought hard but ultimately lost 8-4.
Thomas picked up their two wins at #1 and #3 singles. Afonso won a battle at #1 in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Afonso improves to 5-2 at the top singles spot including winning four straight.
McPhail picked up a comprehensive win at #3, 6-1 6-3. McPhail is now 6-1 at #3 singles and has won six straight. Gould fought hard at #2 singles but came up on the wrong end of a three set match, losing 3-6, 6-1, 7-5.
