Terrier Baseball swept in doubleheader against NYU

BRADENTON, Fla. - Thomas Baseball was swept on Sunday in their doubleheader against New York University. 
 

Game One: Thomas 1, NYU 6

Thomas jumped out to a one run lead in the second when Nick Hutson (Queens, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch. NYU scored one run each in the second, third and fourth inning and then three runs in the fifth to seal their victory. 
 
Devin Grindle (Surry, Maine) led the Terriers with two hits including a double while Kyle Gleason (Danville, N.H.), Jason Bartlett (Belfast, Maine), Lucas Harmon (Danville, N.H.) and Hutson all had one hit. Tommy Smith (Cumming, Ga.) started on the mound for Thomas, going four and a third innings allowing six runs on 11 hits while striking out five. Daniel May (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Tyler Cantey (Los Angeles, Calif.) came in as relief, pitching a combined inning and two thirds allowing just one hit. 
 

Game Two: Thomas 3, NYU 18 

In the second game the Terriers and Violets traded early runs before NYU scored four runs in the fourth inning to take control of the game. Thomas scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth but was unable to mount a comeback in the latter stages of the game. 
 
Harmon, Tony Meza (Los Angeles, Calif.), Jake Perry (Oakland, Maine), HutsonChase Stanley (South Berwick, Maine), and Jackson Ladd (Winthop, Maine) all had hits for the TerriersThomas used seven different pitchers in the game with Isaiah Williams (Valley Springs, Calif.) picking up the loss, pitching three and a thirds inning allowing six runs on six hits, striking out four and walking two. 
 
UP NEXT: The Terriers play a doubleheader on Monday against Utica, with first pitch in game one scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
