WATERVILLE, Maine – Thomas women's basketball lost a tight matchup versus conference foe NVU-Lyndon, 73-67 on Tuesday night.
The Terriers found themselves down early, with NVU-Lyndon storming out to take a 29-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. Coach Cummins' second quarter adjustments helped the Terriers chip away at the deficit, shooting 8-14 from the field and 6-10 from free-throws.
Brianne Benecke (Oakland, Maine) played a huge role in the second quarter, contributing four points, three rebounds and two assists helped cut the Hornet's lead down to six points at halftime.
Heading into the third quarter, the Terriers went on a 15-8 run, including three three-pointers from
Kaylee Ravagli (Lowell, Mass.) to make the score 49-48 heading into the final quarter. The Terriers were able to keep the score close until late in the fourth, when NVU-Lyndon went on a 10-1 run to end the game, sealing the 73-67 victory for the Hornets.
Ravagli had a career high 29 points in the loss for the Terriers, shooting 9-13 inside and 6-7 from three-point range. Benecke finished the game with a double-double, recording eight points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.
